Things I'm Thankful For

It's Thanksgiving Day here in the US. I'm sure several of you are thinking, "There's no way Alice would stoop to something so lame as doing an 'I'm thankful for' article.' So overdone!" Yeah, well this is the mark of a desperate and totally stuffed woman who had to do something themed for the day.

So here it is, the things I'm thankful for. It's not a comprehensive list. Just some off the cuff ramblings of a tired mind that's coasting from daylong exposure to oven fumes.

Puppy dogs

People who save the world and look great doing it

Things that only get more beautiful with age

Human vulnerability, both emotional and physical

Sibling rivalry

Angels watching over us

Bad hair days

Humbling situations

Beautiful sunsets

A favorite shirt (The Paisley Peril!)

Cherished family gifts

People from all nationalities coming together to share a common love

AND.......................

Letting loose and having memorable times with your family

I'm a Lions fan by birth, remember? We shamefully watch our football with bags over our heads. So, watching any sort of football, even an innocent game between brothers on Thanksgiving, kind of stings a little. Wink

I like this idea of a holiday where you list things you are thankful for. It's way less stressing than having to make a list of new year's expectations that only get frustrated!

This comes a bit late, but, nevertheless – Happy Thanksgiving to everyone… This is such a sweet list, and it touched me, Alice, thank you. You hit me deeply with ‘human vulnerability, both emotional and physical’, how true. And that tandem-pic, hilarious… Ever did that? It really is fun. Next time I’ll, too, pack a baguette, flowers, cheese and red wine… spring will come…

What am I grateful for? Health. Imagination (to quote Einstein: ‘Imagination is important, as knowledge is limited’, not entirely sure whether I had it right). Dear friends who are there no matter what. A job I love. All my books. My music. Living in a country at peace. The odd ridiculous ideas. Many more things. … … … Coming to this site. Meeting all of you and getting to know some of you a little better, discovering generous and loving souls. I’m tearing up right now… now I’m being ridiculous.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Our Cdn thanksgiving was in October but one can never be too thankful. I'm thankful for this site and it's talented administrator who always makes me smile! I'm also thankful that my husband and son are at a soccer tournament in Fort Dix New Jersey and I can have a girl's night out!! With a husband, 3 sons and 2 male dogs I don't get a lot of 'girl' time. I"m thankful that they all love Supernatural too, though.
Alice - I love the 'puppy dogs' pix - god he does look like a puppy! All great choices - what an imagination you have!

No Thanksgiving on this side of the Atlantic but, like everyone else, I'm thankful I found this site and all the wonderful people around here.

Aawww...cute!! While you guys were celebrating Thanksgiving, my family was celebrating a holiday called Eid, or more specifically Eiduladha. And I was basking in oven fumes all day too, especially that of our brand-new hand-made brick oven. Phew! These pretty, pretty caps sure are a relief after all that Smile

Wow, thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm thankful to find others that enjoy my ramblings and that I was able to find a great way to share them. I swear when I started this site as long as one other person was reading it was worthwhile. Once Tigershire and Suze were on board, then my mission was complete. Everything since then has just been bliss for me. As long as it's all about glorifying this wonderful show, then it's all good.

Narcissus, mine too--I love Thanksgiving so I was a little grouchy that it got preempted this year!
