Saturday. Second Day of the Salute to Supernatural Convention. I was expecting the temperature in the main theatre to warm up – actually, it had been freezing all Friday and I asked one of the Creation volunteers whether it was going to be that cold in the room (probably a tiny bit of my ugly cold was still in my body playing around), and she said that I shouldn’t worry, on Saturday it was going to be much, much warmer (because of more people arriving, on Friday the theatre was half empty) and on Sunday I was going to want to take my clothes off… I can only assume she meant because of the rising temperature in the room…
Sleep is overrated. Especially at an event like this. The night before we partied and karaoked till about 2 a.m., and I had been so full of adrenaline that I couldn’t sleep right away. I guess I might have slept about three hours that night, so my morning activities became a bit of a rush, though I managed to enjoy some absolutely perfect Eggs Benedict for breakfast (to my shame I haven’t yet mastered the art of cooking them and when I can get some great ones, I can not resist –wanna bribe me? So fantastic a breakfast might just do the trick…)
I could hardly wait for this day to get started, as so much would be going on – we were expecting AJ Buckley, Travis Wester, Kurt Fuller, Misha Collins and Jim Beaver. So much to take in and to experience… Plus I had won a meet&greet with Jim which I was particularly looking forward to. Come on! How could one person possibly handle all this? I’m just a human being… vulnerable to many emotions that already began to flood my system…

At nine a.m., however, I was to be at a round table for the press with the Ghostfacers, so I had to woman up and get there in time. AJ, alas, was late, so the five of us (press), Creation’s publicist Monica and WarnerBros’ Chris were there with Travis Wester who felt chatty and was a great sport. He was there to basically promote the Ghostfacers Spin-off Webseries which is to air on April 15th on the CWTV.com, coinciding with the 100th episode of our fave show.
Please forgive me, kind readers, as we will be running an article on that shortly prior to the start of the new webseries, I will not linger much longer on this round table but address it in said article in depth. I’m leaving you hanging quite deliberately here, ah, I know, I’m naughty… but you love me for it, don’t you…?
Just one thing: I submitted the zombie alligator idea to the ‘Facers’, I’m sure, Suze will be delighted to hear that. We were talking about ideas that Kripke might have for the spin-off as well as the show and Travis and AJ went on about not being experts on urban legends and not being sure what kind of ghoul they would like to encounter as ‘Ghostfacers’, so I found this to be my cue and told them how many on our site were rooting for a zombie alligator which caused a very surprised reaction from AJ who seemed to like the idea. I asked them to forward this idea to Eric Kripke – I have no clue if they are actually going to do that, of course, but it was a funny scene nonetheless.
We had only half an hour, but it was full of interesting impressions – personally, I was closely observing the actors (which probably comes with my real life trade, and my professional instincts tend to kick in in situations like this). All Friday I had heard from fans how nutty both guys were and how they never got serious, ‘don’t expect them to utter one sensible sentence’. That reputation did not hold entirely true. They were funny and at times seemed out of their minds, but also quite serious and down to earth, AJ in particular, who arrived a bit later (and brought his breakfast with him as he was quite hungry and had not managed to eat earlier), appeared to be rather quiet at times – a total difference from their gig on stage later on.
On stage (getting ahead of my time table here) they were entertaining and hilarious, constantly poking the Winchesters verbally, and promoted their own series with much enthusiasm, while being guarded about giving too much away. There were no real spoilers to get from these two men. Even though they seemed out of their minds at times, they were sober enough to not let important information out…shame… Everyone, including me, surely hopes (there is no other option, folks) for them not only to be successful with their spin-off, but to be back in season six of Supernatural, because (feel free to imagine your own version of the Ghostbusters theme song) ‘facin’ makes us feel good…’
I had to leave earlier and did not see their full panel (thank God for all your youtube videos!), as I had to go to my meet & greet with Jim Beaver. Before that, however, I wanted to find Jim for my autograph (as I was not sure how else to catch him – that was before I knew that he would be signing autographs and chatting with fans till midnight).
As far as organization goes, there were several minor overlaps which made it difficult to get to a couple of events in time. (Apart from that it made it difficult to grab something to eat, there was simply no time and I had not thought of bringing a snack to the theatre with me… I was glad sometimes that it was so loud in the room that no one would hear my stomach calling for food.)

And you confirm that Mr. Beaver really is a class dude. Very cool. Kurt Fuller, a nice guy, so comical given how expert he is at playing one of the slimiest characters I can remember in a long time. As for Misha vs. the lunatic fans (those are the real ones, that can't separate the character from the actor) there are always a few rotten apples in every bushel. Nature of the beast. Crazy Sam girls.
Aside from the over-loud party (loud is fine for concerts, but a meet-n-greet-ish mingle gig? That's just dumb.) sounds so far like it was completely worth the trip. We remain completely not jealous. Hmph.
So Kurt Fuller almost made you like good old Zach? Lucky for him the con was not last weekend...
Do you know if we poor Europeans will have the chance to see the Ghostfacers? I would like to see it.
I'm so glad you had a wonderful time with Jim Beaver (you know in his twitter he actually answers people in their mother language and actually speaks German and a couple more but for the others he use google dictionary, he's so sweet!), again I'm jealous
And Misha I would love to meet him! I know he sounds and looks a little crazy but I think you're right he's much more than the public him we see that I really would love to actually meet him.

Wow getting to meet up with both Jim and Misha on several occasions…your guardian angle must have been watching over you.
They say that the worst villains on TV and movies are usually the nicest/sweetest guys you will ever meet in real life. Looks like Kurt Fuller fits that bill.
Sorry to hear about your poetry book…hoped it survived ok.
I don’t think I would of survived that party as well. I would of preferred the piano idea.

Randal, Jim Beaver is indeed a man of class. There aren’t enough nice words to say about him. As for the ‘crazies’ among Misha’s minions, well, let’s not care about them. This ‘crazy Sam girl’ will have a fantastic story to tell about meeting the guy… Coming up, soon.
Dany, I just mailed the WB-publicist I met there and asked him whether we will be able to watch the Ghostfacers Spin-off in Europe. I’m sure he’ll get back to me as soon as he reads my mail, he always does, and I’ll let you know.
I sure hope, Suze will read this – I wanna see that happy dance…
Karen, this ‘villain’ surely fit the bill. He was really nice and witty! My poetry book did survive. It still has some stains, but it’s okay. That was one part of the price I had to pay for such a fantastic experience. The memories will there forever, lodged like a bullet in my brain.
Btw, you’re not getting old. I prefer the piano jazz, too, when it comes to a classy dinner party.
Anene, where were you girl? I tried to find you and asked anyone who was called something like Anne or so, but couldn’t find you, what a shame! I was beginning to think you didn’t come, but you did, right?
There were some voices who also uttered heavy disappointment that Misha left so early, for the same reason you put here, but also because some of the really shy ones lost on a chance to see him up close for just one time (like the girl I mention in my article. Later I saw her sobbing, she was desperate. Even if that might have been over-reacting, for her, being quite young (she probably wasn’t older than twenty) it might just have been a disaster).
Sablegreen – let’s just hope it was a spoiler… Misha reportedly lets something slip out. Hope that was it…

Great second installment! You got a straight answer from Misha AND chatted to him at the party like a real person - I'm sure that he appreciated someone else who didn't love the party too and was honest about it. I saw your question on youtube - you really made Misha think and it was funny!
Also caught your J2 question - it was a fabulous question (I won't spoil it here because I'm sure you're going to put it in part three) and the boys genuinely answered and put thought into it.

I'm so glad you mentioned the zombie alligator! Suze is going to be psyched, and it would be hilarious to see that play out.
It sounds like Kurt Fuller had a great panel. I saw a few interview clips with him on a different site, and he's really funny and witty.
And as a fellow Bobby enthusiast and Jim Beaver fan, I'm so glad you got to hang out with him at his little private schindig! He really is a class act.

Actually I think, considering the crazy Facers, that a zombie alligator would fit perfectly into their show. I really hope Suze reads this, as I believe she'll be delighted, but she hasn't been around for a while, I can only hope that she's alright!

Ok, so maybe a little bit, but reading your encounters it's like I was there
Your second Con Day sounds lovely, just wonderfull. Jim seems like such an old fashioned, charming man and I'm sure he is all that. I'd like to meet him too, in a not-so-crowded situation, I'm sure he has many fascinating tales of his life and his craft.
And I'm sure you're right about Misha C. also. He seemes like such a cook but I too get the sense that in real life he's a really sensitive and soulful guy (I think the J&J are too, I like the fact that they are so private, not caring about the red carpet -lifestyle). This whole sarcastic thing of his (which I love, sarcastic humour is my fave kind) is just an act (well some of it anyways :D) and I bet he takes some things a little too close to the heart. I agree with Randal that those people who can't separate the character from the actor are the ones who don't get it and think they can say what ever they want, forgetting that there's an actual person standing there. I know I'm offended by some of the things the fans say. But that's the price of being an actor I guess, you put your work out there and there will be a reaction. I really appreciate these guys for going to these events and giving the fans lovely experiences. Even if they don't really want to be there, they make the most of it
Sorry to hear about your poetry book, I hope it didn't get damaged too much. Did Misha sign it? I'm not sure I read that he did... Did I skip a page? Have to go back and see.
That Dessert Party -thing sucked. They really weren't thinking. Nothing's more soothing and relaxing background music than a heavy rock band
But despite of this, you had a great time so it doesn't sound that bad. Everything can't be a success you know, our heads would explode from all the seething jealousy

And I nearly choked when you called Kurt a cracker. So unexpected and innocent…awww. (It’s a racial slur here in the States toward whites. Not a lot of punch to it since whites are the majority but… :mrgreen:-)

Delighted to hear you had such a great encounter(s) with Jim Beaver. I bought his book a short while ago and it’s near the top of my ‘to read’ stack.
Love Cas but can’t say I’m a big Misha fan. Least not like I am with the boys. Everything I’ve heard about him is positive if mostly nutty. I’d actually love to meet his wife since I find the spouses of those who tend toward nuttiness to be fantastic people.
You should read that book Jim Beaver wrote. It’s so warm, kind, sad and moving, what a fascinating and dear human being.
