Earlier this evening, during a broadcast of the red carpet of the 38th Annual People's Choice Awards, it was announced that "Supernatural" had won both awards it was up for! The above picture of both awards is courtesy of Co-Executive Producer Jim Michaels via his Twitter.
The first is a second win for them, Best SciFi/Fantasy Show. The second though is a MAJOR win, Best Broadcast Network Drama. An acceptance speech by Jared and Jensen was taped in Vancouver. The speech aired during the red carpet broadcast, which was shown on the little known cable network Reelz and via the People's Choice website. The win for Best Broadcast Network Drama was not mentioned during the broadcast at all, and the Best SciFi/Fantasy win only got a brief mention.
Here is that video. The guys are certainly grateful.
While we are all very proud of this win for our show, sadly, it seems that the People's Choice Awards are sending a clear message that some fans are more important than others. This is from Clif Kosterman on Twitter.
@bodyguard4jandj: awesome we win but can you f ing beleive no invite
Jared and Jensen did not receive an invitation to the awards! This is after fans spent hours and days online voting for the show and promoting the People's Choice Awards. We were encouraged by the network's publicists! This is definitely a slap in the face to a fandom that was only doing what this show is supposed to be all about, awards and recognition from the fans!!! "People's" choice.
As you can expect, there is a huge onslaught of fan protests going on right now. I'm gathering info on where to send protest letters, but currently protests are being sent to via tweets to @peopleschoice and through their Facebook page.
I'm getting a lot of retweets on this. If you wish to flood their twitter with this, feel free:

Since the PCA show isn't over, I don't know if anything will be included during the main broadcast.
I'm very happy because supernatural won the PCA,
but I really want to know too why Jared or Jensen or anyone from the supernatural team didn't go to get the award to the awards ceremony?
People is saying 'maybe they were filming', but I mean they can stop filming for 1 day isn't? I mean for me is a huge thing to win the People Choice Awards BEST TV DRAMA and they didn't go? why????
You have free publicity there !!!
Does somebody knows why nobody for the spn team went to the ceremony? They weren't invited? or they didn't want to go because they were filming?
wow Supernatural wins best TV drama and, PCA don't invite them!!
As far as I am concerned, CBS is going to be receiving a
chastising e-mail from me. I think we all should complain directly to the source.
If there is an organized complaint effort, please post it here so that all complaints will be going to the same place. CBS may be the place to do it. Let me know, because I am super ticked off about this.
Castle did win Two PCAs tonight but yes, it was disrespectful of them not to have SPN there.
What sort of message does this send? What's worse is they won't care. We're a small show on a small network.
The CW is running ads now promoting the wins, thanking the fans. They won't fight for their shows to get exposure on air, but it'll all be cleared up by an ad.
I'm really upset for this, the point is Supernatural didn't win "any" category, they just won best TV drama, is the most important category from tv series, and the PCA even broadcasted "best New tv drama", and I felt like they were making fun of us when they presented that category in the ceremony.
Sorry is just I'm really mad because I vote a lot , I thought if spn win they were going to be in the ceremony; (I don't know if you remember I sent you an email asking you if you thought this time the award was going to be broadcasted),,
That's what the CW should have done, investigate if spn was going to be invited and try to put supernatural in the ceremony.
I won't slam The Vampire Diaries, because I do love the show, but I think that Jensen & Jared should have been invited as guests on stage and not just as seat fillers. Sounds like the CW shares some of the responsability for that. I don't know the intricacies of how a show like TPCA gets organized, so that's all I'll say about that.
Now for some positive. The show won two pretty prestigious awards. I've heard some people on the radio lambasting TPCA as drivel, but at least the people that keep these shows on the air are the ones who get to vote. So Power to the People!
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing us such a wonderful show. And I will be voting for them again next year, and the year after...and so forth and so on.
But hey, you know, at the end of the day, the show won, and I'm so happy for them all. The hard work and dedication paid off. Just goes to show what a loyal fanbase can do, PCA, CW & CBS be damned!
Well, it was a truly wonderful, and special win for the cast and crew and the dedicated voters. And I am so very happy for them.
Throw away line from some girl says they won Sci/Fi Fantasy award. Where was the drama award? NEVER SAW IT!
Kept waking up at night and wondering if I blinked and missed who won the best drama award!
What a thrill to find this article. Thanks Alice.
And a great big BOOOOOOOO to CBS and the PCA powers that be that snubbed our show AGAIN!! I guess they were embarrassed that a big network show did not win. TOUGH!
Am so very proud of our boys and their wonderful crew to get this awesome win! And a big stick my tongue out at CBS!
Kim
I also voted for TVD when they weren't up against SPN. The show is ok, but sometimes it gets a little too soap opera for me.
You know what, even though SPN doesn't get the coverage that some of the other 'winners' get, we all know which show has the most loyal and loving fans.
We did good, guys and gals.
First the tv guide cover, then the PCA's, what is next, the emmys?
And I too have been watching TV for over 50 years and no other show has ever grabbed me like this one has.
CBS and PCA should issue an abject apology, but I bet they won't.
It was a dreadful two hours then and it still is. The only thing that would make me watch is the hope to see the boys get some recognition and perhaps some of the ignorant populace would maybe try to watch an episode or two of the show. They could be surprised at the quality they have been missing out on. I would be cringing at the thought of them having to deliver icky lines too, though.
Sandler was actually embarrassing. What the heck was he going on about?
So satisfying that they won! Haha so there! to the snubbers.
Come on guys!
a small tv
But we make too much noise for him
they have to swallow
