After a long and dry summer without the weekly dose of Winchesterisms, Hellatus is rounding the bend to the finish line, the promise of a new season just on the horizon. I’ve been away from WFB for a while – life demands that couldn’t be helped required me to take a sabbatical from writing/posting for most of season six and this summer - but with season seven on the cusp of beginning, I have returned, and with ideas to boot.
Each week I will look at what happened “this” week* in history, over the course of Supernatural’s lifetime – and this is the first installment:
(*”week” here not necessarily being calendar date, but as related to the show: i.e. week 1 of the season, week 10, etc.)
The Week Before....
A look back at what was happening in the week leading to the Supernatural season premiere:
2005:

Television viewers were getting to know a new, intriguing horror show on the then WB Network.
2006:
Devoted Supernatural fans waited out the last, painful week of the first summer Hellatus to discover the outcome of what happens when transport truck meets car. Would the Impala make it?!
2007:
Tortured fans everywhere awaited the beginning of the end and speculated on whether there are some deals that just can’t be broken.
2008:
Teases by speculation and spoilers, viewers had to wait just this-much longer to see how Dean would be...uh, raised from perdition? And just what Sam had been up to all this time.
2009:
Lifted by the final death of a certain demon, the final week of Hellatus before season five had everyone counting down the days, hours, minutes, to see if Lucifer had truly risen (he had).
2010:

Dying under the stress of not knowing, only a few short days left to discover the meaning behind Sam’s cage-y escape...(sorry, couldn’t help it!) and what it would mean for Joe-Normal-Life formerly known as Dean Winchester.
2011:

At least one fan is making bad puns and on pins and needles to see what season seven will throw at us next!

Taking us back in time. Wow.
'Jason Teague' almost kept me from trying out SPN. If I had known how much I would love 'Dean Winchester', I would have enjoyed 'Jason's' death on Smallville even more than I did.
Which caused fandom more tears, the end of Season one or the end of Season three?
Poor Impala. Poor Dean.
Also, the end of 'Swan Song', has to been seen completely different now that we know what really happened. Soulless Sam and Cas, the lying liar that lies.
Mere days left. WOOHOO!!!!!!
Come on people, leave Elle some love.
I love looking back and seeing how the Supernatural History has grown. Such key events as Dean being brought back from Hell!
I'm also a fan of puns. Bring on the punnies!
