SPN Video Recs: Brotherly Bonds and Sibling Rivalries

The Winchesters - Brotherly Bonds and Sibling Rivalries
As we are now staring down the barrel at the end of Season 6, I think we are all getting more nervous at what is waiting for us in the last few. I am pretty sure that none of the remaining episodes are going to be easy to watch and that this team we love so much is going to once again take great pleasure in not only ripping out our hearts, but then jumping up and down on them too. Especially as the mad evil genius wrote the last one himself.
Thinking about this, I decided to put together a collection of clips dedicated to celebrating our much loved brothers and their wonderful, loving, troubled relationship. There are clips here showing all aspects of this, even how bad it can get! But I have tried to concentrate on the positive ones, as I am guessing that`s what we will need at the moment.
The first clip uses a lot of images from Swan Song but flashes back to all 5 seasons. I think the editing on this is really stunning and I find it really moving. The vidder is kpassion04 and they use the Ryan Star song `Losing Your Memory`
After that I need to be cheered up. This is an old one but one of my favourites, as it induces the most amazing warm fuzzy feelings! It celebrates The Winchester Family and it has the most beautiful images combined with the beautiful voice of Alison Krauss. The song is from the film `Dumbo`, it is made by J2thepowerOf3, this is `Baby Mine`
This video also uses clips from all seasons and shows just about every aspect of the Winchesters relationship, the good times and the bad. The vidder is GinevraGemini she has used a great track by The Fray called `Never Say Never' but the video is very aptly entitled `Don`t let me go`
This is the one that for me has to be here. The vidder is NascentProselyte, I love the description given `The bond that Sam and Dean have has been forged over a lifetime of pain. The bond has been repeatedly tested but never broken.` This song is now on practically every compilation CD I have, and, as I am so obsessed and such a wuss, I could not hear it for a few weeks after swan Song without becoming all teary. The song is by Westlife- `No More Heroes`
We can go for a paddle in the shallow end here, this video is called `Sometimes They Smile`, living up to its name, it features lots of smiling Winchesters. I think we need this video as these smiles can sometimes be rarer than hen`s teeth. It was made by lewiskate using Colbie Caillat`s song `Bubbly`
To be honest the quality of the images in this video by Bravery is not brilliant, but I really wanted to include it because the song is so perfect. I am sure when you watch it, you will understand why. It is by Missy Higgins and is called `The Special Two`
The editing on this video by The Horizon26 is fantastic. They have used a track which has been utilised on some other clips, `Keep Breathing` and let`s face it, this is what they somehow manage to do. It`s by Ingrid Michaelson, I first heard her music on another Supernatural You Tube clip and was so impressed it lead me to investigate her work further. (Check out her song `Morning Lullabies, It`s beautiful).
There is a LOT of angst in this clip, but it`s very beautiful! By Winchesterinmysoul it features a really different version of the Coldplay track `The Scientist` by All Angels
I don`t think anyone will be able to stop themselves from smiling at this one. It`s another warm and fuzzy one, and so Damn Cute! Made by Chucklovaaa with the Bruno Mars track, this is `Count on me`

I think this video is a great example of the brotherly bond, it uses clips mostly from `Hunted`, it is by MadMidgetTwins02 and features a song which seems to sum everything up perfectly, `Everything` by Lifehouse
This is another video from ash4897, once again the editing is fantastic and the choice of song perfect. This is definitely a positive, happy one, and it demonstrates wonderfully what I maintain again is the heart of the show for me. It`s ABC and `The Look Of Love`
Here we come to the `Cheese` portion. They don`t come much cheesier, but I don`t care! There are again loads of clips using this song. It is `Because You Loved Me` but, it is NOT Celine Dion, since, as we know, because it has been well established around here, She Sucks! This video uses a version by Michael Ball, It was made by Amtrakblue
I really like this character study of both brothers, and I can`t resist any song which references Spinal Tap. The vidder is felixfelicius using `Strip Me` by Natasha Bedingfield
I know I said I was going to concentrate on the positives here and try to feature cheerful videos but I just had to put this one in! It`s one of my favourites, it uses clips solely from Swan Song and a wonderful song called `Fall Into you` by David Hodges featuring Amy Lee, the vidder is OTHsmallvillefan
This last one is a new find from this week. It made me laugh and demonstrates our boys resilience so well, made by eyestoowide it uses `Tubthumping` by Chumbawamba and is called `Never gonna keep me down`
I have tried to keep these positive, the really sad ones can wait for another collection when we are all feeling stronger! Hope there`s some here that you enjoyed. I would love to see anyone else`s recommendations.
Just as a little extra, here is a vidlet from ash, it was made as a celebration of 100 episodes, but guess we can celebrate Season 7 with it too. Plus it is just what we need at the end of a season.

I assure you there are some happy/silly ones, I did try to keep the angst under control at the moment, we can`t cope with anymore.
You are correct, they do look like little boys in some of the earlier episodes now.
I promise some of the rest will really cheer you up and provide a few smiles, but you might want to take off any mascara before a few of them (sorry)

Did you know both are already on the site? `With what we had` was recommended By karen brandy after my first collection, `A Picturesque wander through You Tube` if you check it out you`ll find it in the comments. The TikiTyler9 one is in the video gallery, you are right it is a very disturbing one. That song, in different forms has been used a few times on videos it lends itself to being used here. This is another version by Sunnseanicarts using images from LFTH, the vidder says it`s their first attempt at an SPN video, one hell of a debut!

Anyway, the video is called "You'll Be In My Heart" (from "Tarzan") and the vidder is Kiraynn (but there are quite a lot of SPN videos on this song).

You mentioned in your earlier comment Lokis videos, I really think I could assemble a whole collection just of her work, you mention `We carry no arms`, if you check out the first collection I put together, that was the very first one I included, I just love it, your other recommendation was really good too. She uploaded a new clip last week which is so beautiful. It`s a `Sam` clip but as I am in the throes of putting together a collection of Sam clips I amd saving it for this!

I am addicted to fan vids. I'm actually putting together a course for the spring which uses fan vids, fan fiction, and fan art as ways of creating texts. It's a digital media course. I'll be using SPN, Buffy, X-Files, Doctor Who, etc. as my baseline texts.
I have seen this song used a few times for SPN clips and it works very well. I wasn`t familiar with Matt Kearney until I heard `All I need` on a really moving SPN clip which unfortunately is no longer on You Tube. There are more clips use his tracks that are also well worth checking out.
That course sounds really interesting! Hope it`s a great success.
