I'm reposting this cutesy thing I wrote way back in December 2009 when a lot of fan insanity was getting me down. Considering a lot of tempers have been flaring this week, and I just had to diffuse several nasty comments and fan complaints, it's item for all of us to breathe, go to our happy places, and always look on the bright side of life. This is especially for you Helena.

Since Monty Python has been one source of some warped discussions lately
, there's no better song for the Apocalypse! So here you go, the perfect song to die by, "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life." ---------------------------------------------------------
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.

You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...

(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...

Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)

Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)

(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

I'm dancing on a table right now - love this! L-O-V-E this!
Thanks, you made my morning (I'll be dealing with pre-weekend-patient-calamities, only they are too sick to be appreciative of such a song...)
Love Jas
Thanks so much…I have loved that song since the first time I saw Life of Brian in the theaters.
I’m not disclosing when that was, it hurts the brain too much to remember that far back.
Anyways....as always a fantastic and funny article.
I don’t know about you but with all the light hearted comments and banter of late. I would say we’re doing a bang up job on getting through this Hellatus.
Maybe we should change it to the ‘Laughatus’ or ‘Funatus’.
A little too much eh?
Sorry just finish eleven straight nights of 12hr shifts…my brain is a bit mushy right now.
Shallow, sorry...
Laughing my head off, thanks for that, I really needed it
I think Kripke needs to do a Monty Python shout-out and have a Holy Hand Grenade in the trunk of the Impala. Then again, maybe not because that would just about make me die and go to heaven. Or join the choir invisible.
Hellatus? CW-executives, ite domum! Hail everyone, Jas
Jas and Karen, you took the words out of my mouth. This hellatus it really kind of fun. Even though we don't have new episodes, we have new articles and POV that are really fun to read and write. It really keeps the show alive for me. Love the banter too…
Randal, I think you should be the banter king...after all; you really are a trouble maker.
Keep up the good work people!
And Monty Pythons, I *love* them, the movies and the tv show. My fave is the Search of the Holy Grail and the one with pantomime horses and the dead parrot skit, and the cheese store and the bicycle trip to the country bit, and and...oh screw it, their all my faves
Thank you for making me look on the bright side of life...SPLITTER!
FABULOUS!
You plus the antics of the Winchesters plus the crazy comedy of Monty Python equal genius.
It's a brilliant song with great illustrations.
I think an amazing meta would be to do the whole show a la Monty Python's Flying Circus. Dean could do The Minister of Silly Walks. Sam could try to buy cheese at the cheese shop. The dead parrot, which is pushing up the daisies, could be possessed. Or a zombie. Zombie parrots!!! The Impala would be pining for the fjords. And the end scene would be the boys singing the Lumberjack song.
Oh, I'm having fun in my own mental flying circus now!
Thanks for doing this. It's creating lots of smiles, so I hope it throws some good karma back your way.
Pragmatic Dreamer
Thanks Alice, genuinely.
Alice: great article, too. Definately a smile or two born from a read!
Thanks for the article. I must confess that I am not a Monty Python fan and so was not familiar with the song. Your pics wonderfully illustrate the song.It is a hoot.
It is too bad that you had those occasions (layoffs)to sing it.
Thanks for the video, Tim. I had no idea of the tune.
