#5 - Anna Milton
So what makes Anna a reluctant and unwilling hero? She was an almightly and powerful angel and gave it all up. She lost faith, got disillusioned, and decided to pursue human pleasure. Worse, she even threw her grace down to Kentucky, the one state that had no idea what to do with it other than grow a tree.
Anna fits in this category because she’s the first to realize something was rotten in Heaven and did something about it that didn’t involve starting the apocalypse or becoming a Lucifer worshipper. She is a silent rebel that’s determined to fight on the side of good, despite the knowledge her “father” wants her dead. She’s trusting her instincts. Granted that involves a lot of hiding and pleading to Castiel to do better, but she did save his life (twice) and rid the Universe of a very bad demon (sort of) and a very bad angel. Plus she nails a Winchester, in the back seat of the Impala nonetheless, just for fun.
Alas, her soft spot for Castiel gets her captured, but she’s proven right when Zachariah reveals the dastardly plan. This is enough for Castiel to come to his senses, which is no easy feat. Something tells me there will be more to come from her too now that the world is ending. Castiel needs a fallen friend.

Anna:The end... Is coming. The apocalypse.
Psychologist: The apocalypse. Like in the bible?
Anna: Kind of. I mean, same bottom line. This demon, Lilith, is trying to break the 66 seals to free Lucifer from hell. Lucifer...Will bring the apocalypse. So...Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

"The Father you love, you think He wants this? You think He’d ask this of you? You think this is righteous? What you’re feeling, it’s called doubt. These orders are wrong and you know it. But you can do the right thing. You’re afraid, Cas. I was too. But, together we can.”
Uriel: You haven’t even met the man! There is no will. [punches Castiel] No wrath. [punches Castiel] No God.

I wouldn't have called the Splendidly Heroic Fixer Genius that is Bobby exactly unsung though ... The one thing the endlessly squabbling hoards of nit-picking malcontents that make up the SPN fandom do actually manage to agree on is that Mr. Singer is a bloody good egg! ( Next poster will no doubt point out a shedload of sites dedicated to slagging him off ...
Thanks for this, it was a great read
I love looking at these characters, past and present (or past and finally soon to be present) and remembering all they brought. Great job pulling out aspects of their personalities and tieing it in with the dialogue.
I'm with the others in agreeing that this site, these articles, all the posts back and forth have made this hellatus fly by. Imagine starting out with 17 weeks (which we didn't even know at the time it would be 17 weeks) and now we're down to 17 days...whee, I have toes leftover after I count!
There has been one site that dislikes him a lot and complains that he overshadows the brothers when they should be solving their own problems. Also complaining that he takes time away from them. I guess they would be happy for Dean and Sam to be the only people in the show and on camera 100% of the time. LOL! Poor J's! They would be comatose by now.
I just love the fact that Dean has this great friend who is more fatherly towards him than John ever was since he was 4 years old. You can really see how very much Bobby loves him. Great acting by Jim!
This site has certainly helped us through the hellatus and we are very grateful to you Alice, and Elle2 for all your efforts. Many thanks to both of you for this friendly place we fans can visit.
Great as usually Alice
And only 17 days to go...
Don't feel bad about technical difficulties - On Sunday morning my neighbourhood was without power for about 6 hours because a squirrel walked over a power line - viruses and power outages; these things happen.
Looking forward to the Winchesterisms!
